October 2004 PA Weather Summary

 

Oct. 1 – 5:

 

            The month started off with seasonably warm temperatures across the state.  On, Saturday, Oct. 2 a cold front pushed across the state causing scattered rain showers.  Over the next few days dry conditions were found across most of the state as a high pressure system was dominating the weather.

 

Oct. 6 – 10:

 

            As a high pressure system moved across the state and to the west, a warm, southwest wind helped to raise temperatures into the low to middle 70’s across the Commonwealth on Oct. 7, 8, and 9.  A cold front pushed across the state bringing an end to the mild temperatures.

 

Oct. 11 – 15:

 

            Monday, Oct. 11 and Tuesday, Oct. 12 dry conditions were found across the Commonwealth, but that did not last too long.  Two separate low pressure systems brought cloudy and rainy conditions to the state during the period of October 13, 14, and 15.

 

Oct. 16 – 20:

 

            A cold front pushed across the state on Saturday, Oct. 16 with temperatures in the upper 40’s and spotty showers found in western PA.  A warm front associated with a low pressure system brought over an inch of rain in spots across the Commonwealth on Monday, Oct. 18.  This system was slow to move out of the region, as spotty showers were found across the Commonwealth through Wednesday, October 20.

 

Oct. 21 – 25:

 

A low pressure system located off the New England coast brought cloudy and cool conditions across eastern PA on Friday, Oct. 22.  The skies cleared out across most of the Commonwealth during the morning hours on Saturday, Oct. 23.  In advance of the next weather maker, clouds and rain showers advanced into western PA in the evening hours on Saturday and into early Sunday, Oct. 24.

 

Oct. 26 – 31:

 

            Tuesday through Thursday (Oct. 26- 28) temperatures were around the low to middle 60’s across most of the Commonwealth.  A warm front pushed across the state on Friday, Oct. 29.  Seasonably warm temperatures were found near Pittsburgh as the temperature approached 70 on Saturday, October. 30.  A cold front pushed across the state, bringing an end to the mild temperatures.
