JULY 2003 Weather Summary
Week 1 (July 1-6)
The first week of July began with a high pressure system which generated pleasing temperatures in the upper 70s throughout Pennsylvania. On the 3rd, a low pressure system quickly swept across the state, bringing scattered showers to much of the state. Once this low passed, humid air stayed in the area, and brought temperatures into the high 80s and low 90s, while isolated showers brought little precipitation to the state.
Week 2 (July 7-13)
A stationary cold front over the Great Lakes poured moisture and humidity into Pennsylvania on the 8th of the month. This front swept south across Pennsylvania, bringing 5 consecutive days of precipitation to much of the state. A high pressure system rendered a gorgeous weekend for the region, bringing sun and seasonably pleasant temperatures in the upper-70s.
Week 3 (July 14-20)
High pressure kept the region under sunny skies until a weak cold front swept through on the 16th producing a trace of precipitation in some areas. A stronger cold front passed through Pennsylvania on the 18th, which brought a dry weekend with pleasing temperatures in the upper-70s.
Week 4/Week 5 (July 21-31)
The fourth week of the month began with a stationary cold front situated over the Great Lakes which produced heavy precipitation over much of the state. The front pushed through a day later, which brought temperatures into the 70s. Moist air kept scattered precipitation in the region for the end of the week. The last couple days of July were pleasant as the month ended on a good note.
Summary
