It appeared that the warm weather was only going to stick around for the first day of the month. The second through July sixth experienced unseasonably cool temperatures. The first cold front passed through during the night of the first, bringing with it rainfall and drastic changes in the temperatures and dew points across the state. Philadelphia as of 7 am EST on July 1st had a temperature of 79° and a dew point of 71°. As of 7am EST on the second, the front had moved through Philadelphia and dropped the temperature of 59° and a dew point of 43°. The third of the month brought record lows across the state to Philadelphia, Allentown, Harrisburg, and Wilkes-Barre.
The start of the second week of July brought temperatures in the eighties across Pennsylvania. A cold front passed through the region on the 11th, which cooled temperatures into the seventies for the rest of the week. Most of the state receieved much needed rain, the highest amount of rainfall occured in Eastern Luzerne County, where they received as much as 1.60 inches of rain. The rest of the week was rain free with tempertures in the mid to upper seventies.
The third week had slightly below seasonable temperatures
across the state. On the 16th and 17th, a stationary front stalled out in
the middle of Pennsylvania. This front brought light rain in the North
Central, Northeastern, and Central regions. On the 18th and 19th there was
widespread rain (but in most places light rain) across the commonwealth.
For the rest of the week temperatures were in the lower eighties and high
pressure dominated the state .
The warmest and most humid week occurred in the fourth week of July, many areas across the commonwealth reached the ninety degree mark. The highest temperature for the state occurred on the 25th in Bear Gap, which is located in Central Pennsylvania. Uncomfortable dew points dominated the state. A cold front passed through mid-week although it did not bring any relief from the high humidity. The 26th had areas of heavy rain across the state most areas in eastern PA experienced anywhere between 1-2 inches. The remaining days of the month were dominated by cooler temperatures and less humidity as high pressure rested over Pennsylvania.
