May/June 2004 Experimental Temperature Forecast Verification

The two month daily temperature forecast verification has taken on a new approach effective with the March/April 2004 edition. This forecast, and future forecasts, will apply a verification technique comparing the forecasted five day running mean with the acutal value, not the individual days' mean temperature.

For the western region, the stations of Pittsburgh and Erie were averaged for the verification data.

 

 

For the central region, the stations of Williamsport and Harrisburg were averaged for the verification data.

 

 

For the eastern region, the stations of Philadelphia and Scranton were averaged for the verification data.
