    The following is a map of Pennsylvania with each county outlined.  This map is a visual representation of the number of lightning events per county between the years of 1950-2000. Along the side of the map there is a legend that describes what value each color represents.

 

 

 

 

    This first chart provides a visual interpretation of the distribution of lightning events per county between the years of 1950-2000.  The x-axis represents the individual counties, where every other county name is represented (space limitations prevented displaying every county name).  The y-axis is the number of lightning events with intervals of 5.

 

 

                                

 

 

    The first table is a tabulation of the number of lightning events that were recorded for each county during the 1950-2000 time period.  This data was acquired through The National Climactic Data Center which provides tallied weather events per county ranging from tornadoes, lightning, hail, floods, wind, and the like. 

 

Table 1:  The Number of Lightning Events Per County from 1995-2000.  These events are damage reports.
